After a month full of back and forth due to economic and political actions taking place overseas, we were glad to participate in the Tech&Fest event with a stand of our own.
Tech&Fest is a technology convention -as its name states- that gathers different companies, institutions and startups as a way of presenting their newest technology developments and innovations, alongside with conferences about Artificial Intelligence, tech, art, commerce, etc.
In a big but crowded space with 138 stalls each belonging to a company or an institution, we had the opportunity to place our humble stand, showcasing the product that we have been developing for the last 4 years: our virtual space and safe place, Workadventure.
It came to our attention that people who attended the event were not only interested in the general concept of our product, but also in the newest functionalities we have been working on for the last months.
As a matter of fact, many participants approached our stand in order to try and to test our product, verifying whether a virtual environment would be useful and productive for their activities or not. Additionally, we couldn’t stop noticing how people were fascinated by the integration of bots through avatars (WOKA) with whom the users can freely interact and get an immediate answer thanks to the Realtime API technology structured by OpenAI.
This hype around the development of AI reminds us of the web creation and evolution back in the 90s and the 2000s. It was, more than anything else, an essential moment for humankind who no longer needed books or physical records in order to get access to information because large amounts of content were available online. We strongly believe that society is currently facing a similar evolution thanks to AI and its features in constant mutation.
Workadventure naturally has a fundamental role to play in this context by hosting virtual spaces where bots can find a body and a voice with an avatar (WOKA). This recent innovation can positively allow us to interact collectively with AI -instead of an individual human/AI-interaction which was already customary until that point-.
Moreover, we could also consider that the bots might start to interact with each other, resolving problems and questions beyond our understanding.
On the other hand, at the Tech&Fest event we had the pleasure to run into Céphise Louison, member of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) who was presenting during this occasion the “Wavy glove”, a device that allows users to touch and to feel everything they see in a virtual reality session.
In fact, Céphise Louison has been actively performing as project manager for the integration of Workadventure service to the CEA. We have been working very hard side by side in order to provide a good service for them, expanding our product features and including new functions such as the matrix chat. These new elements are not only available for the CEA, but also for anyone who decides to self-host their own space with Workadventure’s code, because our philosophy is and always will be open source.
Besides the wavy glove created by the CEA that allows you to “touch” the virtual world, we discovered different inventions that will surely have an impact on society, companies and institutions. The Obvious AI & Art exhibition, the golf simulator, the beatmaking and the “Provision” scanner to diagnose cancer are just a few examples of the main points of interest.
Last but not least, Tech&Fest also organized an impressive job dating space where HR recruiters from different companies and startups could exchange with students and graduates from many schools and universities in France, looking forward to establishing new connections between them.
