How do I keep one cohort out of another cohort’s rooms?

Access in WorkAdventure is decided with tags. You give a person one or more tags, and a tag can be required in two different places.

• A whole room, which is one map. The room can require a tag to be opened at all: someone without it cannot connect to it, and never sees the inside.
• An area inside a room. The area can require a tag of its own: someone without it moves around the rest of the room normally, but cannot walk their avatar in.

To set it up (paid plans)

1. In your admin dashboard, add your members and give each of them their tags: one per cohort, plus teacher or staff. Tags are free text, so the names are yours to choose.
2. Set the tags each restricted room accepts.
3. In the map editor, set the tags each restricted area accepts: a cohort’s classroom, a staff room, an exam area. Areas take two kinds of tag, one for who may enter and view, another for who may place objects there, so a teacher can furnish the classroom while students only walk in.

Tags only exist for members. Visitors have no tags and are all equal, and anonymous users have none either. So tags do their job once your world is set up with members: require authentication, turn off self-registration, and add the people who belong there. On a room left public, the link alone lets anyone walk in anonymously, and an anonymous visitor is also harder to moderate. See the access management documentation.

Company sign-in lets students and teachers use the school account they already have to connect to the map.
