Yes. WorkAdventure runs in your mobile browser, and it can also be installed as an app (PWA) on your home screen.
To install it
- Open your WorkAdventure space on your phone.
- Open the installation screen from the menu, which walks you through the steps for your device.
- On Android, confirm the installation prompt. On iPhone and iPad, open the Safari share menu and choose “Add to Home Screen”.
The space then opens from its own icon, without the browser address bar. Nothing is downloaded from an app store, and there is no update to manage.

Yes. WorkAdventure is a progressive web app (PWA), so your browser can install it as an application with its own window and its own icon.
To install it
- Open your WorkAdventure space in Chrome, Edge or Safari on your computer.
- Open the installation screen from the menu, which shows the steps for your browser.
- In Chrome and Edge, you can also use the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar. On macOS, use Safari’s File menu and choose “Add to Dock”.
Firefox on desktop does not support installing web apps. Use WorkAdventure in a regular tab, or install it with Chrome, Edge or Safari.
Installing WorkAdventure also improves day-to-day reliability. Notification sounds are allowed to play as soon as the window opens, and the space is less affected by the energy saving rules browsers apply to background tabs. See why WorkAdventure disconnects when its tab is in the background.

Yes, on a Premium plan. WorkAdventure supports OpenID Connect, the standard most identity providers speak, so your members sign in with the account they already have.
To set it up
- In the admin dashboard, open the Authentication menu, then click Add a SSO provider.
- Fill in the provider name, the client ID, the client secret, your provider’s base URL and the scopes. We recommend
openid,emailandprofile. - Copy the redirect URI shown on that page into your identity provider.

Making it the only way in
By default, adding a provider adds one more way to connect. The existing methods stay available. To make SSO mandatory, open your world settings, tick Mandatory authentication and untick the other authentication methods. Once that is done, someone whose account is disabled in your directory can no longer enter your world.
If you only need individual sign-in rather than a company directory, visitors can also register with Google, LinkedIn or GitHub.
SSO is not available on the Free plan.

1. Pick a ready-to-use template
Several ready-to-use templates are available for free during sign-up. Select the one that matches your need, such as a virtual office, an event, a classroom or a chill area, and your space is created straight away. Your Free plan is activated automatically, with no time limit. Get started now.
2. Build your own space
WorkAdventure is fully customisable. Start from a template and edit it directly in the space with the built-in map editor, which requires no code. For deeper changes such as floors, walls or a map built from scratch, use Tiled, our offline editor. See the map building documentation and the Starter Kit.
3. Have our designers build it
Our design team can create a custom map from scratch or adapt a template to your brand. Contact our team, or come and meet us in our virtual offices.

When you sign in, you automatically get the Free plan. You can upgrade at any time from your dashboard.

A WOKA is your avatar in WorkAdventure. It is the character other people see moving around the map, and the one they walk up to in order to talk to you.
To change yours, open the menu inside your space and click “customize your avatar”. You dress it from head to toe: body, clothes, hair, accessories. You can also give it a companion, a small animal that follows you around.
Changing it takes a few seconds, and it is worth doing at the start of an event. On a map with a hundred people, the avatar is how colleagues find you. Organisers often go further and give their team a custom skin, so attendees can tell staff from other attendees at a glance.

A computer or a phone with a recent browser, and ideally a webcam and a microphone. There is nothing to install.
Browsers WorkAdventure works with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and with mobile browsers, tested on Chrome for Android and Safari for iOS 15.4 or later. Internet Explorer is not supported. Keeping your browser up to date is the single best way to avoid problems.
Hardware Any computer or smartphone from the last few years is enough. WorkAdventure runs in the browser, so the main factors are a recent browser and a stable connection rather than raw hardware power. A large map with many participants uses more memory than a small one.
Network Video and audio travel over WebRTC, which some corporate networks and VPNs block. If people can move around but cannot see or hear each other, that is a network issue rather than a hardware one. See how to unblock WorkAdventure on a firewall.
WorkAdventure is about bringing people together, so a webcam and a microphone make the difference between watching a space and being in it.

Yes, on a Premium plan. White label replaces WorkAdventure’s identity with yours, so the space reads as your product.
What you can change
- Your logos, on the login screen, the loading screen and the name entry screen
- Your main colour, applied across the interface
- Your background image and your error page image
- Your own domain name, so the link you publish is yours
- Your favicons, meta title, meta description and social sharing image
- Your PWA application name, icons and theme colour
- Your own terms of use, privacy policy and cookie policy, or no legal links at all
How to set it up
Rebranding settings live in the world edition pop-up of your dashboard. The rebranding documentation covers each setting, including the CNAME record a custom domain needs. White label is not available on the Free plan, nor in the self-hosted version. Contact us if you need a hand.

It depends on how far you want to go, and there are two tools for two levels of ambition.
The built-in map editor, no code required
From inside your space, with an admin or editor tag, open the map editor in the action bar. You can place objects and furniture, add interactive objects such as a computer that opens a website, define areas like meeting rooms, exits and entries, and edit in real time with several people at once. Most teams never need anything else, and this takes minutes rather than days.
Tiled, for full control
Tiled is a free offline editor used to draw floors and walls, build a map from scratch and add scripts. It is more powerful and asks for some design skill and patience. If it is your first map, start small and simple, and count one to two days.

Yes. WorkAdventure has its own team of designers, and they take on both ends of the job: a map drawn from scratch, such as your offices, a campus or a world of your own, or a few adjustments to one of the ready-to-use templates so it fits your event.
How it works
- Tell us what you need: what the space is for, roughly how many people, and any deadline you are working towards. You can also come and talk it through in our virtual offices.
- Send what you have: floor plans, a brand guide, the list of rooms you need.
- The designers come back with the map, and you keep editing it yourself afterwards in the built-in map editor.
A custom map takes from a few days to a few weeks depending on its size, so start the conversation early if it is for a dated event. If your deadline is closer than that, a template plus your logo is live the same day, see how long it takes.

No. Someone you send the link to opens it, picks a WOKA and is in the space. No sign-up, no password, no email to confirm. That is deliberate, and it is why sending a link works in seconds.
What anonymous access does not allow
Anonymous users cannot send direct messages or open chat rooms, and they are harder to moderate, since a ban relies on a browser session ID or an IP address. Anyone who wants the full chat experience can register an account from the login page, on their own, if you allow self-registration.
An account is for the people who run the space
You need one to create a map, reach your dashboard and manage members and their rights. Members are added by an administrator and can be granted tags, which control who may enter which rooms and who may moderate. See how can I get my own virtual space?

You send them your map link. There is nothing to install and nothing to accept. They open the link, pick an avatar and walk in.
On the Free plan
Your map link is public. Anyone holding it can enter at any time, which makes it easy to share, and also means you should keep that in mind before posting it anywhere public. You can customise the link so it reads like your organisation rather than a random string.
On a paid plan
You can close the door. The link itself stays the same for everyone, but you decide who gets through it. Require authentication so visitors must sign in, turn off self-registration so only people you have added can enter, and use tags to decide who may access which rooms. If your organisation already has a directory, company sign-in is the version of this that needs no list at all.
